Braes Friendly Growers is a community group focused on outdoor education, permaculture, and sustainable growing. The group is teaming up with FEL Scotland’s food growing department to host this inaugural community-building event, the area’s first annual Apple Day.
Through the event, BFG aims to provide the local community with the chance to discover its plans for the Hub’s outdoor area. On the day, there will be:
- apple pressing (bring your own apples, and bottles if possible)
- a baking contest (bring your baked apple goods)
- a craft fayre
- opportunities to help design the Polmont Community Garden and learn seed saving with Grangemouth Seed Library
“There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved. Engaging in these activities has been scientifically shown to significantly benefit mental health and well-being. Let’s come together to grow food, cook, and enjoy meals organically!”
Soup and snacks will be available on the day, and everyone is welcome. Attendees are asked to please bring their own bottle for apple juice; BFG will have a limited number of washed, upcycled bottles available.
