Scottish Government has published its Draft Climate Change Plan for 2026–2040, setting out proposals to cut emissions and accelerate the transition to a net-zero Scotland, and has now opened an online consultation for people to share their views.

The draft plan outlines action across key areas (including housing, transport, energy, land use and the circular economy), with a focus on delivering warmer homes, cleaner air and new green job opportunities. A central theme of the plan is a “Just Transition”, ensuring that communities, workers and households are supported fairly through changes to the economy and infrastructure. Scottish Government has stated that progress will require collaboration across public services, businesses, community organisations and local partners.

The draft plan will now undergo a period of parliamentary scrutiny and stakeholder engagement before being finalised. As part of this scrutiny, people are invited to share their views via the online consultation, either as individuals or on behalf of an organisation – Scottish Government has encouraged organisations and communities to take part in shaping the final version.

Responders should feel free to answer as many or as few questions as they wish – every response will be considered by Scottish Government
