Demystifying Death Week (4-10 May 2026) is about giving people the knowledge, skills and opportunities to plan and support each other through serious illness, dying, loss and care. Throughout the week, there will be a series of events encouraging open conversations about dying, death and bereavement taking place across the Falkirk District, hosted by Falkirk Council as well as local organisations:
- Tuesday 5 May | Crematorium Tour | 2pm and 3pm A guided tour of Falkirk Crematorium led by the Crematorium Manager. Appointment only. 10 spaces available per tour.
- Wednesday 6 May | The D Word @ Falkirk Crematorium | 5pm-6.30pm Gillian Robertson, Founder of The D Word, will present on “What Happens When Someone Close Dies”, before encouraging all to engage in open conversation. Tea and coffee will be available.
- Friday 8 May | Camelon Cemetery Tour | 5pm-6.30pm A guided walk through Camelon Cemetery with local historian Geoff Bailey, exploring its history and the stories behind it. Appointment only. Limited spaces available.
- Saturday 9 May | Crematorium Tour | 10am and 11am A further guided tour of Falkirk Crematorium led by the Crematorium Manager. Appointment only. 10 spaces available per tour.
Open to all, spaces are limited therefore booking in advance is essential for all events.
