Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs are offering a free in-person 8-week course in Community Reinforcement and Family Training at Central Wellbeing, Falkirk. Meetings will take place every Monday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm between April 22 and June 10.
Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs are a national charity that support anyone affected by another’s alcohol or substance use. They offer support to parents, partners, siblings, adult children of substance users (16+), as well as extended friends and family. With one such user stating:
“It was very helpful to have things explained and discussed, and to meet other parents having the same struggles. Each session was really important, clearly presented, and acceptable to us. It was good to be able to attend with my husband and hear his responses, making it easier to talk together afterwards, be more assertive with each other and our son, and to work in harmony with each other for the good of our son.”
Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) is a course designed to enable those affected by another’s substance use to improve their communication skills, help them understand their loved one’s behaviour, encourage behaviour change, set boundaries and give them the skills to maintain them and help them guide their loved one to reducing the harm caused by their usage with a view to their loved one getting external help.
