The Community Learning and Development (CLD) Standards Council Scotland (working with Rocket Science UK Ltd) has launched the Community Learning and Development Workforce Survey.
CLD is the field of professional practice in Scotland which includes youth work, community-based adult learning, family learning, and community development. CLD enables people of all ages to identify their own individual and collective goals, to engage in learning and take action to bring about change for themselves and their communities. It is also a key element of the education sector in Scotland.
However, there are many staff and volunteers working in CLD roles, and using CLD methods, who may not automatically identify themselves as a CLD practitioner. This includes people working in community development, adult or family learning (includes ESOL), youth work, community planning, health, employability or poverty.
The survey is open to all those working or volunteering in the above areas in Scotland, aiming to capture workforce data, building on what was found in the last survey, conducted in 2018.
The survey will close to new responses at the end of February 2026.
To submit your response, or for further information, please visit the online survey (linked for your convenience).
