Carers Week 2021 takes place Monday 7th June – Sunday 13th June, with a theme of “Make Caring Visible and Valued”.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
This year, carers across the country are continuing to face new challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people are taking on more caring responsibilities for their relatives and friends who are disabled, ill or older and who need support.
Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre has organised a week full of online events and activities to celebrate carers of all ages and their efforts – the majority of these will take place via Zoom, and support is available for anyone unfamiliar with Zoom.
For every weekday of Carers Week, the Centre staff will draw a raffle winner for one of their prizes. Entry is free and open to all carers on the Centre’s mailing list or registered with the Carers Centre. Winners will be contacted directly and announced via social media channels.
To take part, carers should contact a member of the Carers Centre staff before Carers Week begins to have your name added:
- by phone: 01324 611510 (selecting ‘option 4’)
- email: centre@centralcarers.co.uk
- direct message via Twitter or Facebook
For Carers Week, the Carers Centre is combining their quarterly Carers Fourm and Annual General Meeting (AGM) into one event.
The Forum will begin at 10 am, with updates from the Centre’s hospital-based support workers, Respitality, Integration Joint Board, and more.
Following this will be the AGM at 11:15 am.

Taking their first tentative steps towards meeting carers face-to-face (after over a year of providing online only sessions for carers), the Falkirk Care With Confidence (CWC) team is hosting a special celebration event, including a light lunch, at Callendar House during Carers Week.
As spaces are very limited, this event will be by invitation only.
The team aims to make this a wonderful opportunity for carers who have spent over a year communicating with each other on Zoom to finally meet face-to-face, whilst adhering to restrictions.
Carers in Clackmannanshire are invited to join the Carers Centre for a Reachout with Arts in Mind event, 2pm – 4pm.
Spaces are very limited and are on a first come, first served basis, so those interested in taking part should contact Tracy by phone: 07818592992, or email: tracygibson@centralcarers.co.uk
Also on Thursday, the Centre has an exciting event planned for parent carers and their families in Falkirk and Clackmannanshire. They will be joined by Calum from Cool Creatures for a special online event, starting at 5:30pm.
For further information, please contact Stella by phone: 07593446639, or email: stellasiddiq@centralcarers.co.uk

The team will be joined by Anne Millard as part of their special Carers Week Relaxation session, aiming to help carers to be more at ease.
