As part of their Big Dig September events (which coincide with Scottish Archaeology Month), Great Place Falkirk will be in Denny on Saturday 11th September, 10am – 4pm with their travelling community hub, at Herbertshire Castle Park.
The Big Dig September events celebrate local archaeology and Falkirk’s past throughout the month, with further events taking place at Zetland Park in Grangemouth, and Kinneil Estate in Bo’ness.
People are welcome to drop by at any time to see the range of excavations, workshops, games, heritage tents, historical re-enactments, and medieval villages, amongst others.
There will also be the chance to visit Great Place Falkirk’s dig site at Milton Row, where volunteers, schools and community groups have been excavating 19th Century Victorian nobs’ (strike-breakers) cottages all week. People can take a tour of the site and look at what’s been found, and try excavating some parts themselves. Archaeologists and volunteers will be available to answer questions and act as guides.
Entry is free, and no booking is required.
For further information on all activities on the day, please visit the Great Place Falkirk Facebook page.
