Al Masaar Hijab Event

Al Masaar will be holding a Uncovering the Wisdom of the Hijab event on Saturday 28^th January, 12pm – 4pm at the Howgate Shopping Centre, High St, Falkirk, FK1 1HG.

During the event, ladies are invited to try on a hijab. Al Masaar volunteers will also be answering questions people have about the hijab.

The event is part of celebrations for World Hijab Day on Wednesday 1^st February, and aims to clear up myths and misconceptions regarding hijabs and head coverings.

Voices Forum: Discussion on Planning (Scotland) Bill’s Impact

Children in Scotland’s members are invited to the next Voices Forum meeting on Monday 8th October to discuss the Planning (Scotland) Bill’s implications for children and young people. The meeting takes place at the Children in Scotland office, Level 1, Rosebery House, 9 Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 5EZ (across from Haymarket Station).

Cyrenians’ Lighthouse Service

Cyrenians’ Lighthouse Service supports people to move on with their lives and away from the criminal justice system. They are a new service for people with convictions who wish to access employment, volunteering, training or services in the Falkirk area. Support is open to anyone who has been involved in the criminal justice system. Anyone can self-refer to the Lighthouse Service, and they also accept external referrals from other agencies.

SAMH Universal Credit Consultation

The Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) are looking to hear from people about their experience of Universal Credit, as part of their ongoing effort to make improvements to social security in Scotland.

New Carers (Scotland) Act Briefing Sessions in Falkirk

Dates for the next briefing sessions on the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 have been announced, with the next taking place on Monday 24th September 1pm – 2:30pm or 3pm – 4:30pm at the Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre, 1A Bank Street, Falkirk FK1 1NB. Places are free, but booking is essential.
