Earlier this week, to mark both Volunteers’ Week and Power of Youth Day, Volunteer Scotland and YouthLink Scotland published a joint briefing, “Young People and Volunteering”.
The briefing explores the policy implications from Volunteer Scotland’s recent “Young People in Scotland 2022” research for volunteering and youth work, and details a number of recommendations for elected representatives, policy-makers, and other relevant stakeholders.
The 2022 survey found that volunteer participation amongst young people has declined, and that fewer young people are experiencing the benefits of volunteering. The survey also highlighted changes in volunteer participation by demographic groupings, which Volunteer Scotland believes could help inform efforts to make volunteering more inclusive for young people.
