Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) Forth Valley’s “First Time for Everything” Project is holding a number of festive and winter activities over the coming months, including:
- Christmas Ceilidh on Saturday 3rd December, 7pm – 10pm
Taking place at the Community Education Unit, 69 – 71 Abbots Road, Grangemouth, FK3 8JB, the event is completely free (though booking is essential), and will feature live music from the Skelpit Lug Ceilidh Band.
Everyone of all ages is welcome. The event is also “bring your own bottle and nibbles”.
- Cracking Christmas Digital Skills event at St Ninians Library, Stirling on Thursday 8th December, 10am – 12pm
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to access free online resources safely, and help plan for the festive season. There will be information available on TV, film, recipes, music, and gifts, amongst others, and refreshments including mince pies.
This free event will take place at St Ninians Library, in the Mayfield Centre, Sunnybank Road, St Ninians, Stirling, FK7 0DB; attendees should bring their own devices with them.
- Stargazing at the Stirling Highland Hotel Observatory, Wednesday 11th January 2023, 7pm – 8pm
Those interested are advised to check the stairs to the observatory (photos linked for your convenience, as a pdf) and determine they will be able to climb before booking.
- Yarn Bombing Project, in partnership with NHS Forth Valley
RVS Forth Valley is also running a Yarn Bombing Project with the NHS Forth Valley Health Promotion Team, who are looking for as many donated yarn bobbles as possible to decorate trees at Stirling Health Care Village (the old Stirling Royal Infirmary), as part of an outdoor public display.
The baubles can be knitted, crocheted, sewn, pompons, or created any other way people would like to. Knitting needles, wool, darning needles and stuffing are available for anyone who wants to join in but is unable to source the materials needed.
RVS Forth Valley has sourced a bauble knitting pattern, with accompanying Youtube video. Baubles can be collected by Kimberley Gray (contact details below) until Friday 9th December, or handed into the donations box in the outpatients building (beside the RVS Café) of the Stirling Health Care Village, Livilands Gate, Stirling, FK8 2AU.
