SDS Forth Valley are offering free information sessions on Self-Directed Support, entitled Know Your Options. SDS is the mechanism for delivering personal and social care in Scotland, empowering individuals to make informed choices and have control over the support they receive and the life they lead. Despite its implementation since 2014, awareness of SDS remains limited.
The Know Your Options session aims to educate carers, family members, individuals with long-term health conditions or disabilities, members of the public, and professionals, on the SDS process. This introductory session will cover the Person Pathway, from initial contact with social work to the delivery of care, ensuring you are well-informed and empowering you to support others effectively.
Online sessions are available for sign-up through Eventbrite, and are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 13 August between 9:30-10:30am, and Wednesday 21 August 6pm-7pm (linked for your convenience). Organisations and groups can book their own free sessions for colleagues, volunteers and the public through https://forms.office.com/e/Q8CNpRr0vs or by emailing sirdinfo@sdsforthvalley.org.
SDS Forth Valley are a charity dedicated to informing individuals about their rights and the processes related to SDS. Although funded by three local authorities, they operate independently and support people throughout the entire Person Pathway of SDS. Additionally, they offer employer training to supported people who wish to employ their own personal assistants.
