Voting for the Scottish Charity Awards 2020 opens this Friday 14th August.
Finalists will also be announced on Friday. Now in its 14th year, the awards highlight the best, most innovative and effective charity organisations and individuals from the past year, and celebrate those community leaders and activists who make a difference across Scotland.
There are 8 award categories: Charity of the Year, Charity Champion, Demonstrating Digital, Pioneering Project, Terrific Trustee, Leading Light, Celebrating Communities and Cracking Campaign.
Winners are decided by a panel of judges and announced at the awards ceremony in September. All finalists will also be entered into the running for the People’s Choice Award (sponsored by Charities Aid Foundation), giving members of the public a chance to vote for their favourite finalist to win.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions, organiser the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has made some changes to this year’s ceremony. Instead of the traditional dinner event where all finalists meet and mingle in person, SCVO has worked with their venue, the EICC in Edinburgh, to create a special online awards ceremony, taking place on Friday 25th September.
As a result, the voting process for the People’s Choice Award has changed: postal votes will not be issued, and instead there will be an extra week to vote online.
Voting closes Friday 4th September.
