As you are probably aware, Disclosure Scotland is making changes to their services from Tuesday 1 April. This is part of the process for implementing the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
To help organisations understand what is changing and how it impacts them, our team at CVS Falkirk & District has created a summary guidance document, which highlights some of the key changes that relate to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, including:
- anyone over the age of 16 years old who is working or volunteering with vulnerable groups will now be legally required to be a member of the PVG Scheme
- the current fee waiver for volunteers will be retained, so PVG scheme membership will be free for volunteers of Qualifying Voluntary Organisations
- if you are a Trustee or Director of an organisation which provides services to children or protected adults, you will require a PVG membership
- the “lifetime PVG Scheme membership” is being replaced with 5 year membership
- you should inform Disclosure Scotland when a PVG member stops doing regulated work within your organisation
The summary guidance document is available to view or download as a pdf (linked for your convenience).
Volunteer Scotland Information Sessions
Please note that Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services is running a series of very useful online sessions to keep you up to date about the changes, the implementation of the Disclosure Act and what you need to do as an organisation to ensure compliance.
Some of these sessions are running as Q&A sessions, so you can ask anything specific to your organisation directly to a Disclosure Scotland representative.
To book your place at upcoming sessions, or for further information, please visit the Volunteer Scotland website.
