Thrive Outdoors and Inspiring Scotland have launched the Outdoor Play for Wellbeing Fund, which is now open for applications.
The fund will support charities providing outdoor community play opportunities for children and families experiencing disadvantage, as defined by SIMD. Up to £15,000 can be applied for by registered Scottish charities for outdoor community play activities and projects.
Funded by Scottish Government, Inspiring Scotland’s Thrive Outdoors team will manage the fund, supporting charities delivering outdoor play to change, learn from and enhance the lives of children, young people, families, and communities.
The fund will support:
- the development of better and more opportunities to play outside, leading to improved physical health, mental health, and wellbeing
- families and communities to gain a deeper awareness of the benefits of outdoor play connecting people and place
- increasing perceived value and support of play opportunities for children and young people
Registered Scottish charities can apply for up to £15,000 of funding for outdoor community play projects which are free to access, and that deliver free play opportunities. The proposal may include staffing costs, materials and resources that help facilitate free play, outdoor clothing, management fees, etc.
Please note that funding is for outdoor community play only. Therefore, structured sports activities and sport-related training are not eligible under this funding.
The deadline for applications is 12pm on Tuesday 3rd May.
