A message from one of our Development Officers on some of the impact COVID-19 has had on our charities, and support available:
“It is fair to say that we are living in unprecedented times; the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected every part of society, forcing many charities to change how they usually operate.
As a charity ourselves, we too at CVS Falkirk have had to make changes on how we operate to ensure we can continue supporting third sector organisations, especially during this challenging time. Remote working and video conferencing tools have enabled our organisation to maintain contact between staff and colleagues working in the sector, allowing us the ability to deliver a “business as usual” service over the phone and online.
The rules on social distancing mean that meeting in person is mostly impossible, impacting the ability of trustees to physically hold meetings and to make decisions.
Against this backdrop, and the many other areas which are affected, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has produced detailed COVID-19 guidance for charity trustees (and those working in or with a charity), to help them navigate through the challenges they are likely to experience. The guidance brings together information charities need to know during this time, and highlights other organisations who may be able to offer support.”
In addition to the online guidance, OSCR is hosting a series of webinars throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, “Charities and Coronavirus”, and uploading videos to their website later. Previous sessions include:
- “Charities and Coronavirus – Accounts and Reporting to OSCR”
- “Charities and Coronavirus – An Update from the Regulator”
