Meadowbank Car 4U provides a free transport service for cancer patients who are registered with the 3 medical groups at Meadowbank Health Centre in Polmont. They are currently looking for volunteer drivers.
Patients travel to hospitals across Central Scotland for their treatments, including in Glasgow, Airdrie, Edinburgh, and Larbert. Volunteer drivers will be required to complete a PVG check, have a full driving licence and fully comprehensive car insurance and be happy to use their own 4-door vehicle for their voluntary driving activity. Opportunities are intermittent and dependent on the number of patients requiring travel to treatment. Expenses can be reimbursed at 45p per mile.
This may be most ideal for someone newly retired, or otherwise able to commit to an irregular volunteer role.
