Falkirk’s Child Protection Committee is hosting 3 free online sessions on “GIRFEC: Solution Orientated Child’s Plan meetings”, taking place throughout September via Teams on:
- Wednesday 21st September, 3pm – 5pm
- Thursday 22nd September, 1:30pm – 3:30pm
- Monday 26th September, 8:45am – 10:45am
Please note that participants only have to attend one of the sessions.
The interactive sessions are open to all practitioners working with children and families, following on from the sessions run in May 2022, and focusing on:
- current developments across the Promise, GIRFEC and Child Protection
- using a Solution Orientated approach within Child’s Plan meetings
The sessions will be interactive and aim to be an opportunity for workers in all partner agencies from health, police, third sector, education and social work to come together.
This approach is designed to assist participants when the issues are “soft” systems problems, where the end goal is unclear, there are many people involved, and people may feel “stuck”. It supports a move away from a problem-focused context in which many meetings operate, and is based on the following assumptions:
- The past is the past. What matters now is the future.
- All participants’ contributions are equally welcomed.
- Participants are encouraged to look for strengths-based solutions to include in the action plan.
