Falkirk Writers’ Circle (FWC) aims to promote and encourage all aspects of creative writing, through providing the opportunity to meet with other writers locally to discuss and share your interest. As part of its annual national writing competition, the group will be hosting its FWC Tryst Seminar 2026 on Saturday 16 May 2026 at Polmont Community Hub, Greenpark Drive, Polmont, FK2 0PZ.

The competition invites individual writers and writing groups to submit works across four categories:

Short Story: any subject, maximum length 1500 words
Article: any subject, maximum length 1200 words
Poetry: any subject, maximum length 40 lines
Special Category: First Chapter of a Psychological Thriller, maximum length 1200 words

The categories are professionally adjudicated prior to the Seminar, where the winning entries will be read out to all in attendance. All entries must be submitted prior to Monday 6 April 2026, with entries only eligible from those attending the Seminar.
