ZEM Innovators Meetup at Falkirk Sewing Studio
May 25, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeThe next Zero Emissions Mobility (ZEM) Innovators Meetup will take place next Thursday 25th May, 5pm – 8pm, hosted by one of our local social enterprises, Falkirk Sewing Studio, in Callendar Square Shopping Centre, High Street, Falkirk, FK1 1UJ.
Organised by ETP Scotland (the Scottish research partnership for energy), the meetup theme is Circular Economy, focusing on its “three Rs”: Recycling, Re-manufacturing and Re-use as key enablers to achieving a sustainable future for global transport, and how Scotland can play a leading role.
Founder of the Falkirk Sewing Studio, Uatandua Kahere, will speak about the ways environmental sustainability has been key to creating the studio as a community space, and their work supporting local communities through sewing and other creative activities (including their free community sewing club (linked for your convenience) every Thursday evening).
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the studio and the products they create and sell, made from reused and recycled materials, along being able to meet some of the artists using the space. There will also be the opportunity to network and learn from others who have an interest in, and are actively involved or responsible for funding, researching, designing, developing, selling, operating, and maintaining the technologies related to low or zero-emission vehicles, and the infrastructure supporting them.
Jamaican-themed snacks and refreshments will also be available from local business, Brina’s Jamaican Kitchen.
ZEM Meetups aim to break down knowledge and digital silos regarding research and development around zero emissions and sustainability, helping develop connections and conversations towards collaboration.
