“The Impact of Imprisonment on Children and Families” is suitable for professionals from any sector who want to feel more confident when supporting families affected by imprisonment in their own role. (Previous sessions have been attended by education professionals, social workers and those in the third sector.)
By the end of the training session, participants should be able to:
- better understand the impact of imprisonment on children and families, including the most common issues facing families
- give examples of how a family might be affected at each stage of the criminal justice process
- apply their knowledge when supporting families affected by imprisonment and feel confident when supporting them
The training modules incorporate a mix of learning styles, and provides opportunities to interact with other participants from different professional backgrounds and sectors. Interaction is encouraged, in smaller breakout room discussions and whole group discussions.
