Community Choices Phase Two Information Event
November 1, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
FreeAhead of the Community Choices Phase Two launch, Falkirk Council and Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership have organised 3 online information events on the changes made based on feedback and learning from Phase One.
The events all take place on Monday 1st November, at 10am, 2pm and 6:30pm, each lasting roughly 1.5 hours. Spaces are limited to 25 people per event. (BOOKING LINKS BELOW.)
Community Choices– Falkirk Council’s participatory budgeting initiative – gives local people and groups the chance to apply for funding to improve their local area and decide how public money is spent.
Earlier this year, funding totalling £640,000 was awarded in Phase One to almost 60 local projects aiming to make Falkirk’s communities fairer, healthier, more connected and inclusive.
Feedback from this first phase has helped shape how the next round of funding will operate, with changes including:
- increasing the limit for Small Grants to £5,000, with projects looking for more than £5,000 applying for a Capital Grant
- a Falkirk-wide category will be introduced for projects that benefit more than one council ward
- no single group will be able to take up more than 60% of the fund allocated to a ward or the Falkirk-wide fund, to ensure funding is more evenly spread
The 3 information and Q&A events in November will cover:
- how Community Choices works, including the voting system
- the application process for Small Grants
- the criteria for Capital Grants
The events are open to anyone who has an idea that could benefit their community and improve the quality of life in their local area.
