Charity Law Changes: Charity Trustees Information to be Submitted and Published
June 30
FreeThe Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has announced that from Monday 30 June 2025, all Scottish charities will be required to begin submitting detailed trustee information through the OSCR Online portal. This change is part of the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023.
As part of this update, the first and last names of charity trustees will be made publicly available on the Scottish Charity Register from late 2025. No other trustee details will appear on the Register, unless a charity chooses to include them in its annual reports and accounts, which will also begin to be published in full from late 2025.
This change, along with others introduced by the Act, is intended to improve transparency and build greater public trust in the charitable sector.
OSCR has published an article explaining this most recent change regarding trustee details, including:
- what information will be required
- why the information is being collected
- how to submit the information
- when exemptions may apply
- what charities should do now
