“A World of Work Tasters” Event
March 5
FreeHistoric Environment Scotland (HES) is working in partnership with Morgan Sindall Construction to host a number of “A World of Work Tasters” events in March 2026, aiming to provide young people with an insight into the world of construction, and the roles and careers available.
Attendees will experience 7 interactive work tasters during the 6 hour session. These sessions will take place as one event, repeated 3 times on:
- Tuesday 3 March 2026
- Wednesday 4 March 2026
- Thursday 5 March 2026
“A World of Work Tasters” are aimed at anyone aged 16 years old and over, and those who support them within education, employability, or a youth- or community-supported setting. As well as multiple hands-on experiences, there will be the opportunity for attendees to speak with the people who do the jobs on a daily basis.
Tasters include:
- Digital Den: “Discover design, digital construction and technology’s place in the built- environment.”
- A Greener Future: “Sustainable construction and our environment.”
- Pipe It Right: “Learn about plumbing and heating.”
- One Build At A Time: “A hands on practical brickwork and scaffolding workshop.”
- Lets Go Retro!: “Learn about retrofit and building conservation.”
- Spark: “An insight into mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades.”
- Carving Out Construction: “A hands on practical stonemasonry workshop.”
Please note, tickets are only required for young people attending, not their teachers or attending adult (if there are any). Lunch will be provided for ticket holders, and support is available for up to 75% of travel costs to the event. This is subject to criteria, and can be accessed via the HES website (linked for your convenience).
