The training is part of the Connected Lives programme, which supports staff and volunteers from third sector organisations to build the knowledge and confidence needed to support people living with dementia and their carers. The Dementia and Social Connection training explores how to plan and deliver dementia-friendly activities, events and services. Through a combination of research, case studies, practical guidance and peer discussion, participants will gain the skills and confidence to create more inclusive and supportive opportunities within their communities.

The course is open third sector staff and volunteers in Scotland, and aims to help participants:

deepen their understanding of dementia and the importance of social connection for people living with the condition
learn how to deliver inclusive events and activities
learn tips for supporting volunteers to build and sustain relationships with people living with dementia
identify their next steps for offering a dementia-resilient service for their communities

The course is CPD-accredited, and includes access to the Connected Lives Good Practice Guide, a new dementia training resource created for the project. The Connected Lives programme is a Scottish Government-funded project by Befriending Networks, aiming to empower Scotland’s third sector to deliver dementia-friendly events, activities and services.

Places at each training date are limited, and booking is essential.
