contactSCOTLAND-BSL is a free Scottish Government service that connects D/deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users throughout Scotland, through an online BSL interpreting video relay service (VRS) with all of Scotland’s public authorities and third sector, and now beyond.
Since March 2019, contactSCOTLAND-BSL has provided VRS For All, meaning D/deaf BSL users can contact any service which relies on telephone contact with their service users or customers. This includes public, third and private sectors within Scotland.
Their team has always provided face to face awareness-raising sessions to staff, volunteers and end-users of the service. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these events have not taken place.
However, they are keen to continue to provide awareness of contactSCOTLAND-BSL as much as possible, especially as demands on the service have, over the past months, accelerated with record-breaking call volumes from, and to, D/deaf BSL users.
As a result, they have announced several upcoming webinars, which can be booked via Eventbrite, and will take place using either Zoom or Microsoft Teams on:
- today, Friday 18th September at 2pm (via Zoom)
- Thursday 24th September at 11am (via Microsoft Teams)
- Friday 16th October at 11am (via Zoom)
- Wednesday 28th October at 2pm (via Teams)
