Go Forth & Clyde are seeking lock keeper volunteers to carry out activities on the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The volunteer lock keeper team is based at Navy Blue Cabin, at Lock 16 in Camelon, and the role will involve assisting with boat movements in the unique setting of the Forth and Clyde Canal and around famous landmarks such as the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies.
Go Forth and Clyde volunteers assist with every boat movement between these locks 7 days per week during the lock keeping season, for roughly 6 hours per week each across any day of the week.
The team travels between the locks by bicycle, with e-bikes as well as traditional bikes. Go Forth & Clyde will provide the required tools, life jackets, hi-vis clothing, and a bicycle to travel between the locks (or you may use your own).
No experience necessary as full training will be provided. Volunteers must be able to ride a bike independently and operate heavy canal locks and equipment. This opportunity is available to volunteers aged 16 year old and over.
