Awakening the Festival takes place this weekend on Sunday 27th August, 1pm – 9pm at Falkirk Stadium, 4 Stadium Way, Falkirk, FK2 9EE.
The outdoor music festival is designed exclusively for people with disabilities, and will feature live bands and DJs. Headlining acts are George Bowie and his GBX anthems, and Craig Eddie (winner of The Voice), supported by many other local performers.
There will also be food and drink from a variety of outlets, and market stalls featuring organisations dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities, including Motability, Benefits Advice, Care Providers and taster sessions from Cycling Without Age Scotland and D2 Arts.
The festival offers a wide range of activities designed to suit everyone’s taste, including children’s entertainment, which will include Gary from the Singing Kettle, and Funbox, Mowhawk and Ian from Magicdayz. There will also be a static display showcasing a collection of emergency vehicles, providing attendees an opportunity to learn and engage.
The audience arena will feature circus acts, Heroes and Tiaras, and meet and greet sessions with Jordan Young (aka Alex Murdoch from River City).
Restrooms are fully accessible with Pamiloo disabled toilet facilities, in addition to a changing places toilet inside the Stadium.
Awakening the Festival aims to celebrate inclusivity, accessibility, and community spirit by bringing people together, fostering connections, and highlighting the remarkable contributions of organisations supporting individuals with disabilities.
