Volunteering Matters’ Action Earth grants are now open for 2022 applications.
Funded by NatureScot, there are 150 grants of up to £250 available, with a focus on helping restore and protect green spaces to deliver a “nature-rich” future for all.
Grants can be used by volunteers and groups to purchase plants, tools and materials to improve or enhance local green spaces and wildlife habitats across Scotland. Previous projects have included tree planting, wildflower meadow and pond creation, woodland and wetland renovations, bird, bat and bug homes, and improvements to community gardens.
Volunteering Matters is keen to support projects working with people with disabilities, defined health issues or barriers to involvement. They also prioritise projects whose work benefits disadvantaged communities (especially in urban areas). Action Earth grants cannot fund food growing projects or those based on school grounds.
There is no application deadline, but awards are made on a first-come basis, and projects must be complete by January 2023.
