Volunteering Matters’ Action Earth Grants programme is now open for Autumn/Winter 2022 applications, with 150 grants of up to £250 available.
This year, the grants (funded by NatureScot) focus on helping restore and protect green spaces to deliver a “nature-rich” future for all. Grants can be used by volunteers and groups to purchase plants, tools and materials to improve or enhance local green spaces and wildlife habitats across Scotland. Previous projects have included tree planting, wildflower meadow and pond creation, woodland and wetland renovations, bird, bat and bug homes, and improvements to community gardens.
Volunteering Matters is keen to support projects working with people with disabilities, defined health issues or barriers to involvement, and prioritise projects whose work benefits disadvantaged communities, especially in urban areas. However, they cannot fund food growing projects or those based on school grounds.
Awards are made on a first-come basis and projects must be completed by January 2023.
