Following their December meeting, the Accounts Commission has published their independent report assessing the performance and services of Falkirk Council since 2018.
The report has found that Falkirk Council’s leaders need to urgently make and implement big decisions about how to deliver sustainable services and make significant and necessary savings.
Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission noted that the council worked well leading and supporting staff to tackle the impacts of the pandemic, as a result of close joint working between the council and its partners, including the third sector. The report describes this as “critical in the area’s response to the pandemic”, and that this positive co-operation needs to continue.
Key messages from the report are available in a short animation video on the Accounts Commission’s Youtube channel (linked for your convenience), or via their latest newsletter.
