Public Protection Virtual Training Event

July 15, 2020 @ 9:15 am - 1:00 pm

Falkirk Council’s Adult Support and Protection team is holding a virtual training event on Public Protection on Wednesday 15th July, 9:15am – 1pm.

All participants will need access to a device (such as a laptop, tablet or desktop computer) with a webcam and audio capability; a web link will be sent to each participants’ email address.

The training is open to all staff who previously would have attended the Level 2A Adult Protection or the basic Child Protection training courses, including:

  • residential or day care staff
  • social care assistants
  • support workers employed in the local authority or NHS Forth Valley
  • hospital based staff (including nurses, doctors, and pharmacy workers)
  • supervisory and frontline staff in the independent sector
  • frontline housing office staff
  • frontline homecare staff
  • neighbourhood officers
  • nursery staff (both independent and public sectors)
  • education staff

The training aims to raise awareness of the need to protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults (including volunteers, unpaid carers, and foster carers), and to assist multiagency staff within residential and day services to develop and maintain awareness of protection issues and specifically to recognise, report and record actual or suspected issues of harm within formal and informal care settings.   On completion of this course, participants should be clear about their responsibilities regarding the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and how to raise any concerns that they may have if they feel that a child, young person or vulnerable adult may be at risk of abuse harm or neglect.

Specifically, by the end of the training participants should be more familiar with:

  • the needs of children as outlined in Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC)
  • the needs of adults at risk of harm
  • legislation; what it is intended to achieve and the powers available
  • key terms in relation to Child and Adult Protection
  • some of the indicators of abuse and harm
  • how to respond to a concern

To book your place, please download and complete the training booking form and return by email: asptraining@falkirk.gov.uk

Alternatively, booking forms can be returned to Evelyn McGregor by post: Falkirk Council, Camelon Social Work Services, 108b Glasgow Road, Camelon, FK1 4HS.
