Care Leaver Payment Consultation Deadline
January 26
FreeScottish Government’s consultation on the proposed Care Leaver Payment closes on Friday 26th January, meaning local people, groups and organisations still have time to submit their responses.
The consultation aims to gather views on the proposed Care Leaver Payment, and contains questions on a range of issues, including the purpose of the payment, the eligibility criteria of the payment, and the support required to apply for and manage the payment.
Scottish Government has proposed that the payment will form part of the broader package of support which already exists for those with experience of care, and includes (but is not limited to) access to Continuing Care and Aftercare support for care leavers, the Care Experience Bursary, and Council Tax Exemption for care leavers.
In order to develop a payment which best meets the needs of young people in Scotland as they move on from care, Scottish Government is committed to co-designing the new payment with people who have experience of care, and those who provide support to people with care experience. They are keen to work with delivery partners and those with lived experience of care to ensure this.
The consultation is open to people with experience of care, who are a kinship or foster carer, work with young people in care, support people with care experience, or have a particular interest in this subject.
