Take Ownership, an event organised by the Rainbow Muslim Women’s Group in partnership with AMINA Muslim Women’s Resource Centre, will take place on Friday 18th December 2015 from 5.30pm to 9pm at Bainsford Community Hall, David’s loan, Bainsford, FK2 7NS. Parents are welcome from 8-9pm.
The aim of the event is to empower young people to take ownership of the debate around them regarding Islamophobia and ISIS.
The first session is an interactive workshop exploring several issues:
• Identity and what it means to be a Scottish Muslim
• Islamophobia and the media
• An open platform to discuss and counteract the arguments set forth by groups like ISIS and discussing how they manipulate Social Media for their purposes.
Free pizza and drinks will also be served.
Parents are invited to the second session discussing internet safety and how to keep your child safe, along with a Question and Answer with DS Phil Lamb (Police Scotland).
