Volunteer Scotland is planning a response to the UK Government’s consultation on their Pathways to Work green paper. This paper details how the UK Government intends to reform many benefits and support more people into employment.
One major proposed change in the green paper is to remove Work Capability Assessments; however, it is unclear what this will look like in Scotland, where certain benefits are devolved to Social Security Scotland. Volunteer Scotland’s response will focus on the wellbeing and employability benefits of volunteering, and the need to ensure that reforms do not perpetuate barriers to participation in volunteering.
