Falkirk District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) Befriending Scheme are looking to recruit adults over the age of 18 to carry out one-to-one befriending sessions with individuals suffering from mental health problems.
Their client group often become quite lonely and isolated and volunteer befrienders offer them the opportunity to socialise again. Befriending lasts for a period of one year.
Volunteers receive a number of benefits from this role. It offers an insight into mental health and can assist in career changes by equipping people with increased knowledge for interviews or as a first step in deciding in which direction they would like to move. It’s also a very positive use of your spare time. Clients can benefit from increased confidence, something to look forward to or simply an improved quality of life for a year.
For further information regarding this opportunity, please contact the Volunteer Team on 01324 692000 or email info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk
