FEL Scotland has opened recruitment for 4 new positions in a new Energy department, their Community Energy Empowerment Programme (CEEP):
- Energy Advice Coordinator
- Energy Advice Officers
- Renewable Energy Advice Officer
All positions are 35 hours per week, with fixed term contracts until March 2027, working across Forth Valley and the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park area. While the team’s base will be at the main Stirling offices, FEL supports hybrid and home working too.
The deadline for all applications is 11:59pm on Sunday 2nd March, with FEL aiming to hold interviews the week commencing Monday 10th March.
- Energy Advice Coordinator
- salary of £32,025
As Energy Advice Coordinator, the successful candidate will play a key role in helping people make changes to the way they live that will be good for them and good for the planet. They will be focused on helping the Energy team deliver FEL’s new Community Energy Empowerment Programme (CEEP) across the Forth Valley and Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park region. This programme is closely linked to FEL’s Climate Hub programme, and as such the postholder will liaise closely with the Climate Coordinator, to ensure both teams add value and maximise outcomes.
They will also work with FEL partners to unlock investment and kick-start new initiatives around environmental sustainability and tackling climate change. They will lead a small team looking after volunteer recruitment, support and retention for this new programme, and will occasionally be needed to work evenings or weekends.
This role involves travelling to community centres and private residences across the Forth Valley.
- Energy Advice Officers
- 2 positions at £26,062 per annum; job share can be considered
The 2 Energy Advice Officers will work with FEL colleagues to help community organisations, volunteers and householders to take part in a range of energy saving activities: to help improve energy efficiency and thermal comfort; and adapt to the climate emergency and take local action to mitigate its effects. They will be responsible for improving energy expertise among current and future community leaders, and for helping them build local engagement around the issue, particularly in areas where it is currently low.
The successful candidates will help communities create energy saver plans, and then gather the evidence and build the networks they need to attract investment and resources to deliver those plans. They will also help householders improve energy efficiency through home visits, phone, and in-person advice.
The Energy Advice Officers will work closely with the FEL Communications team to raise awareness and understanding of the climate and nature emergency, in particular related to energy themes and to grow the FEL membership. They will then help members advocate effectively for climate action and amplify the voices of their communities in pushing for change specifically relating to energy themes.
Successful candidates will also be involved in recruiting, retaining and supporting volunteers, and will manage up to 15 of them directly.
Applicants must be able to work evenings and weekends from time to time. Please note that this role includes providing householder advice in their homes.
- Renewable Energy Advice Officer

The Renewable Energy Advice Officer will also work with their FEL colleagues to help community organisations, volunteers and householders to take part in energy saving activities. This role will specifically be about advising on renewable energy solutions to help improve energy efficiency and thermal comfort, and adapt to the climate emergency and take local action to mitigate its effects.
With the Energy Advice Officers, they will also be responsible for improving energy expertise among current and future community leaders, and for helping them build local engagement around the issue, particularly in areas where it is currently low.
Their work with the FEL Communications team to raise awareness and understanding of the climate and nature emergency, will focus on renewable energy themes, as well as growing the FEL membership and helping members advocate effectively for climate action., and recruiting, retaining, supporting and managing volunteers.
