The Scottish Government has launched a new £4 million fund to help bring abandoned homes and empty high street spaces back into use.
The Scottish Government’s Town Centre Empty Homes Fund aims to create additional residential accommodation in Scotland’s urban and rural towns by funding projects to convert disused commercial premises into residential and to target problematic empty homes that require extensive refurbishment to make them habitable again.
The fund is made up of £2million of grant funding and £2 million of loan finance. Applications can be accepted from Registered Social Landlords, charities and developers.
Councils cannot apply in their own right but can be part of a partnership bidding for funding. As a guide, the Scottish Government would expect to see applications bidding for funding of between £30,000 to £50,000 per unit.
The closing date for applications is the 21st August 2015. For further information please visit the Scottish Government website or call CVS Falkirk and speak with Tariq or Claire for funding and capacity building support on 01324 692000, alternatively you can email: info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk
