Town Break SCIO, in collaboration with Alzheimer’s Scotland and Stirling Council, began its journey in 1992 by providing a service to people living with dementia and their unpaid carers. The original service was a drop-in centre running one day a week in Stirling town centre.
Over the years, Town Break has grown to now offer multiple dementia-specific support services across both Stirling and Falkirk Council areas.
Behind the philosophy of Town Break sits a highly personal and holistic approach that places the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of people living with dementia and their unpaid carers at the organisation’s heart. They support people living with dementia and their unpaid carers, using the skills of trained, supportive, and committed staff and volunteers.
Their weekly groups take place in various community buildings throughout the Falkirk Council area. They all aim to provide fun and companionship in a social and relaxed atmosphere, offering entertainment and a chance to make friends.
Town Break also liaises with other partners, to help support people with dementia and their unpaid carers.
