As part their Targeted Regulation, Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) changes to charity reporting will come into effect from 12pm on Tuesday 29th March 2016.
To prepare for these changes, the OSCR website will be unavailable between 10pm on Monday 28th March and 12pm Tuesday 29th March, in order to complete essential upgrades. For charities whose Annual Return is due before Wednesday 30th March, it is recommended that the Return is completed and submitted before this downtime.
Changes to charity reporting will include a revised Annual Return form (with some charities expected to have to answer fewer questions than before), publishing accounts of SCIOs or charities with incomes of £25,000 and over, and a requirement for charities to inform OSCR of “notifiable events” which have taken place. OSCR have also set out the types of charities they’ll be looking at more closely in the future.
These changes are a result of findings and reflections from OSCR’s recent consultation to ensure that their reporting procedures and overall approach are as effective as possible, and transparent to the public.
