Sustrans are currently looking for volunteers in the Falkirk area as part of their “I Bike” project, particularly Cycle Ride Leader volunteers.
The Sustrans “I Bike” project has been working with various schools across Falkirk, and they have opportunities for local people to get involved in delivering cycling activities within schools across the area.
Volunteers can get involved in bike maintenance activities, led rides and playground skills sessions including learn to ride sessions. Volunteers will need a bicycle in working order, and weather-appropriate clothing.
They are particularly looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping with the led rides; to support this role, Sustrans have organised upcoming Cycle Ride Leader training on Saturday 23rd March, for those who would like to volunteer on a more formal basis.
The training covers the skills necessary to lead cycle rides on roads and on recognised cycle paths. Those who would like to become a Cycle Ride Leader should be confident and competent on a bike, and ideally know how to fix a puncture.
