Scotland’s Regeneration Forum (SURF) are holding a series of free Shared Learning Workshops across Glasgow and Edinburgh. Being held throughout May, these workshops will cover themes of Employability, Housing and Regeneration, Place-based Regeneration and Creative Regeneration.
The workshops will contain presentations from the 2023 SURF Award Winners and Highly Commended projects, plus input from relevant SURF national partners – and offer a chance to learn more about the SURF Awards 2024.
- Removing Barriers to Employability: 2 May 2024, 10am-1.30pm.
Glasgow Women’s Library, 23 Landressy St, Bridgeton, Glasgow G40 1BP
Workshop guests will hear from project representatives from the ‘Employability’ category: winner ABZWorks Employability Support; highly commended All in Dundee; and highly commended Topgolf Recruitment. The event will close with presentations from the Institute of Employability Professionals and the Scottish Government’s Developing the Young Workforce Team providing detail on their current priorities towards supporting individuals and organisations to help people enter or return back into training and employment.
- Effective Approaches to Housing Led Regeneration: 9 May 2024, 10am-1.30pm.
Grassmarket Community Project, Grassmarket Centre, 86 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh EH1 2QA
Workshop guests will hear from project representatives from the ‘Housing and Regeneration’ category: winner Goathill Housing and Care Home Project; highly commended project City of Edinburgh Council Mixed Tenure Improvement Scheme; and highly commended project Glentrool Community-led Housing & Regeneration. The event will close with Scottish Procurement Alliance and the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) providing detail on their current priorities towards supporting the wider housing sector.
- Delivering Place-Based Regeneration Initiatives: 16 May 2024, 10am-1.30pm.
Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall St, Glasgow G41 1BA
Workshop guests will hear from ‘Improving Scotland’s Places’ category winner Vibrant Gala Project, and ‘Community Led Regeneration’ winner Govan HELP – The Govan Pantry. The event will close with Scottish Government, and Scotland’s Towns Partnership detailing their current priorities regarding place-based regeneration.
- Using Creativity in Regeneration: 23 May 2024, 10am-1.30pm.
Civic House, 26 Civic St, Glasgow G4 9RH
Workshop guests will hear from project representatives from the ‘Creative Regeneration’ category: winner Wild Skies Shetland; highly commended Deaf Action: Inclusion & Accessibility to the Arts; and highly commended project the Beacon Arts Centre, Creative Minds. The event will close with presentations from Creative Scotland detailing their current priorities towards supporting artists and creative arts organisations, and an overview of the work done by Creative Lives.
