Step Forth is a programme of short weekly volunteer-led walks which cover all of the Falkirk Council area. The aim of the walk-led programme is to encourage people to start walking regularly in their local area, especially those groups who are often less active, as walking has been proven to improve people’s health physically, mentally and socially
Volunteers are required to lead walks with a group of mums.
New mums can often feel isolated and overwhelmed by the responsibility and challenges of looking after their new arrival; some will perhaps feel unable to cope. Step Forth are looking for volunteers who will understand this.
The mums meet once a week for a 40 minute walk; a Health Visitor will also be there to answer any questions or worries that the mums may have. After the walk, the group usually go back to a health centre or playgroup for tea and a chat.
