LinkLiving and Falkirk Foundation are running a new 8 week programme which combines the personal development needs of young people in Falkirk District with health and fitness.
Funded by the Falkirk Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, Sporting Chance will run every Thursday and Friday, 10am – 3pm, at either the Link Academy, McKinven House, George Street, Falkirk, FK2 7EY, and Falkirk Stadium, 4 Stadium Way, Falkirk, FK2 9EE. LinkLiving will provide lunch at each session, and bus vouchers to cover travel costs.
The programme is open to young people aged 16 – 25 years old, living in Falkirk District, and uses physical activity and self-help techniques to support young people to make changes that matter to them.
The aim of Sporting Chance is to build the capacity of young people to:
- recognise, understand and manage the challenges they face
- develop positive behaviours
- identify and work towards their ambitions
- increase in confidence and self-esteem
The training includes:
- specialist football training delivered by Falkirk Foundation
- fun, interactive sessions including Teambuilding and Leadership activities
- learning new skills that will support you for the future
- developing skills to manage stress and anxiety, via one to one support
