Social Investment Scotland (SIS), in partnership with Zero Waste Scotland, has launched the Social Enterprise Net Zero Transition Fund (NZTF), designed to support social enterprises and the wider third sector to make the transition to carbon net zero.
The fund aims to support organisations in their journey to become carbon neutral, and to develop the circular economy. The NZTF provides loans from £10,000 – £1.5 million, and organisations with a particular circular economy focus, or who are proposing specific projects with a focus on re-use, repair and leasing or sharing models, may also be eligible for a small grant award up to £20,000.
Through the fund, SIS is interested in supporting activities that will reduce carbon footprint, including (amongst others):
- reducing energy consumption
- improving energy efficiency
- developing or moving to renewable energy sources
- transitioning to sustainable transport options
- scaling local food production and supply
- minimising or re-purposing food waste
- developing circular economy products, services, processes and practices
Please note this is not a complete list; SIS is keen to see a range of applications and activities come forward.
There is currently no deadline for applications, but the fund is expected to be popular, and organisations interested in applying are advised to do so sooner rather than later.
For further information, including loan and grant terms, eligibility criteria and how to apply, please visit the SIS website.
