Social Economy Today, Glasgow Caledonian University’s annual public lecture, will take place on Wednesday 9 September 2026, 5:30pm – 8pm, both online and in-person:

The event is designed to bring together members of Scotland’s third sector to discuss current opportunities, challenges, and future prospects for the social economy, and to engage with international perspectives and emerging approaches to social value.

This year’s lecture, “From Social Economy to Impact Economy: How Korea is Mainstreaming Social Value through Policy, Capital and Markets”, will be delivered by Gayoung Imm, Associate Principal Researcher at the Centre for Social Value Enhancement Studies (CSES), SK Group. The lecture will explore how social value can become more fully integrated into mainstream economic systems through public policy, innovative finance, and market development. Topics will include outcome-based finance, Social Progress Credit, and approaches to recognising and rewarding social value creation.

The event will also consider links to Scotland’s Community Wealth Building agenda, and encourage discussion on how policy, capital, and markets, can work together to increase social impact.
