The next online “Smoking and Mental Health: Understanding the IMPACT” training session from NHS Forth Valley takes place on Wednesday 14th September, 10am – 11am, via Teams.
The training is aimed at NHS, local authority and third sector staff and volunteers who support people with mental health problems. “Understanding the IMPACT” aims to equip those supporting people with lived experience of mental health with the knowledge, skills and confidence to initiate a conversation about smoking, and to discuss options for supporting those who are ready to quit.
The training includes 2 e-learning modules (an hour’s work, to be completed prior to the training session), and the one hour training session on Teams, which covers:
- the effect of smoking on mental health medications
- discussions about smoking and mental health
- information on e-cigarettes
- information on local services to help people stop smoking
