The Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) is a collaboration between colleges and universities throughout Scotland, working to support and promote access to higher education for adults with few or no existing academic qualifications.
The SWAP programme is open to anyone who:
- has been out of full-time education for 3 years or more (5 years for those with Highers or HN qualifications)
- doesn’t already have a university degree
- wants to focus on their education and progress to a degree or a HNC/D qualification
Previous qualifications are not normally required for entry to the programme, with a wide range of subject areas (including arts and social sciences, languages, sciences, engineering, and nursing). SWAP provides a route into thousands of different degree programmes at partner universities and colleges in Scotland.
