Scottish Waterways Trust are recruiting learning volunteers 16–30 years old, who are not employed, in education or training, and want to develop a range of skills to enhance their chances of employment.
This is an opportunity to take part in a free 14 week training programme where learning volunteers will build confidence, improve self-esteem and can earn recognised qualifications in Health and Safety, Cultural Heritage, the John Muir Environmental Award and other certificates. Learning volunteers will be given the opportunity to learn a variety of skills in a real workplace environment, all outdoors.
Working in groups, learning volunteers will learn new skills which are transferable into the world of work. The tasks will also help protect Scotland’s canals, which are Scheduled Ancient Monuments, so they will be playing their part in protecting Scotland’s heritage.
