The Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) is recruiting volunteers to carry out garden work at Falkirk Community Hospital.
RVS is a volunteer organisation that works to improve the lives of older people and their families across Britain. They support older people by giving time and practical help to support them in getting the best from life. Their volunteers – men and women of all ages and ethnicities –enjoy spending time with the older people RVS supports. Through this, the RVS volunteers aim to help create a society where everyone feels valued and involved whatever their age.
Maintenance is usually carried out March – October/November. Gardening is currently required for the raised beds, where both spring and summer bulbs need to be planted.
During the summer months, the gardens require weeding in some areas along with plants and shrubs needing to be cut back at certain times to keep the gardens tidy. General sweeping and tidying of the paved areas is also required. In the autumn, the raised beds and gardens are tidied for the winter. Garden tools are supplied for this opportunity.
