Community groups and organisations can apply for up to £500 to take part in June’s annual Refugee Festival Scotland and organise local events in their area, with the funding designed to cover the cost of running these events.
The Refugee Festival Scotland Small Grants Fund (awarded by the Scottish Refugee Council) aims to help celebrate and highlight the contribution that refugee communities make to life in Scotland, while promoting and strengthening partnerships and connections.
The Fund is open to community groups and organisations led by refugees, or focused on assisting refugee communities. Groups and organisations can be located anywhere in Scotland. Applications must demonstrate how refugees and/or people seeking asylum will be involved in the planning and delivery of the event(s).
Funding can only be awarded to groups and organisations which have a bank account. Those without a bank account are encouraged to consider applying in partnership with an organisation with one.
To qualify for funding, events must:
- take place between Friday 16th June – Sunday 25th June
- be open to the public
- involve refugees and/or people seeking asylum in the planning and delivery
- bring communities together to celebrate refugee arts and culture
- help people from different backgrounds to connect and build understanding, solidarity and friendship
The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Sunday 5th March.
